I recently had someone email me and say that my directory is accessible and that it needs to be locked. I recently switched to your servers and have never had to worry about that before. I am not sure how to lock them so files and folders are not easily accessible as they appear to be now.

Thanks

Locked how? Password access only, or just no Directory Indexes (i.e. list of the files in the directory)?

I just want it so someone can't list my directory here's what happened
some guy went to my site and then he sends me a picture of me that was stored in a folder on my server that I never put on my site it was just in there (no it wasn't bad) but still if he got that then it made me worried as to what else was accessible so what do I do?

Well, if you just want to disable viewing of the directories through a browser, in CPanel, click on the Index Manager link in the Site Management section, and select the directory for which you'd like to disallow indexes. In the resulting page, select "No Indexes" and click the Save button.

Voila! No more directory indexes there. smile.gif

can't you also drop an index page in that directory saying that the directory is locked with a link back to the homepage?

Add this line of code to your root .htaccess file.

options -indexes

This will stop folder listings thru your entire web site.
