I'm installing Zen Cart for the first time. I've read much of the info in the forums, printed and read the docs that come with the program and charged ahead.

I have a warning about php globals. Apparently, the default is that the globals are ON and Zen Cart recommends that they be turned OFF.

The suggested solution is to add some code provided by Zen Cart to an .htaccess file. I did this.

When I view the contents of the file, two lines from the example that are inside of the html tag marker, < and >, don't show.

When I edit the file, the lines are there. Guess I don't understand something about the contents of the .htaccess file.

Here are the two lines which don't show when I view: <Files ".ht*"> and </Files>

Is this going to make any difference?

Thanks.

The contents of your htaccess file and mine will be different. Some people do not even use one and theirs will be empty if it exists at all. What are you using to view your htaccess file. I use the cPanel file manager to view and edit mine. Really as long as you have one, just take the code and paste it in to the file. Being able to see them should not matter.

Rob,

Thank you.

I used the editor in cPanel, too. It worked just fine.

Once I created the .htaccess file and pasted in the suggested code, the warning disappeared.

I'm moving on to further adventures with Zen Cart.
