Hello-

(no need to welcome me to the forums, that was covered already, thanks!)

I set up an osCommerce site using the button in cpanel.

I have PayPal set as the only payment method. Other than one 'contribution' it is a basic install.

Everything looks great, but when the order goes to check-out, the shipping reflected in PayPal has an additional $1 per item.

Meaning:
Order 1 CD=$10
Shipping=$2
Total=$12

hand off to PayPal from osCommerce

Order 1 CD=$10
Shipping=$3
Total=$13

Can't figure out where this extra $1 is appearing from.

Shop is located here:

http://www.couch-fort.com/osCommerce

I have passworded the directory until I can fix this.

I would love to get the shop LIVE tonight, as we just got our 2nd CD in the mail.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Cheers,
Tim

Tim,

Check the tare weight in your admin section. I believe it is under the shipping section. That might be it.

I'll check when I get home, but I think I have weight set to nothing, as my 'contribution' I added is a flat rate shipping + an amount for additional.
US $2 shipping + $1 each additional
International $4 + $1.50 each additional

I thought that might be it, but test orders from non-US add $1 onto the 'extra PayPal shipping' instead of $1.50.

I doubt that is it now that I have looked at it. How about a low order fee or a per item fee as well as a flat rate?

Can you elaborate on that?
I'm home now, so I can get at my admin page.

When this is over I'm also going to ask what directories I need to password protect to keep my shop safe.

In your admin section go to the "Modules" menu and then "Shipping". What do you have enabled there?

Hi,

Maybe you've already found the problem as I've just tested it as follows:

Ordering one item with a US address
Ordering one item with a UK address
Ordering two items with a US address
Ordering two items with a UK address

In all cases the shipping was correctly calculated both in the store, on the final confirmation screen and on the Paypal site.

Ali.

Yes, problem was solved late last night.
I had been using straight PayPal buttons for the 1st CD since MAy and on the PayPal side I had shipping preferences set up. That was where the mysterious extra shipping money was appearing from.
I ticked the "let other carts override this" button in PayPal's shipping preferences and it all worked out fine.

Thank you both for the insight.
